12 Things That Happen When Girls Try To Find An Outfit For A Night Out

We’ve all been there, this simple task always ends up becoming the end of the world within 10 minutes…

1. Stare at mass of clothes
Oh this will be easy, I have loads to wear!

2. Happily try on a few outfits
Okay, so it’s either these skinny jeans with my new heels or my trusty black dress… simple!

3. Struggle to do up skinny jeans
Does anybody else do that little dance around their bedroom while trying to get their button done up?

4. Stress sets in
Oh my god, even though I walked back from the chipper last night, the chips on my hips still won’t budge and I hate everyone.

5. Raid sisters wardrobe
Hey, wait a minute, this is my top!

6. Get stuck in dress
Oh my god, I thought me and my sister were at least kind of similar sizes…

7. Advice hunting
Typical, I just sent a group snap of my outfit to all the girls and not one of them is opening it within 20 seconds, how rude…

8. Stare at mass of clothes… again!

9. Emotional breakdown
My jeans don’t fit, my new top looks weird, I can’t find my other high heel, AND he isn’t texting me back. *Dramatically collapses on bed*

10. Tea break
Damn you clothes, may you lay here alone on the floor in darkness…

11. Success at last
Oh, so this was the first outfit I tried on.

12. Ask mum for opinion
Ughhhhhhh why is my mother so honest… back to square one…

My Latest Hair Hero!

Hi guys!

I just wanted to tell you a little bit about a new product I’ve just discovered and am loving. So I was in Penneys recently and while I was at the till something caught my eye – HASK Keratin Protein. I read the words ‘Smoothing Shine Oil’ and just had to buy it. Yes, this was an impulse buy, but it was totally worth it, always go with your gut feeling! Haha

I have very dry, frizzy, coarse hair anyway which is such a pain because my hair never looks smooth or silky. The fact that my hair has been dyed also doesn’t help this. Anyway, I wanted something to give my hair a bit of life again and I’m so glad I bought the Keratin Protein. After only one use I noticed a difference. It gave my hair some moisture back and didn’t look as dead and damaged anymore. I have tried it both when my hair is wet and dry, but I personally prefer putting it on wet hair. You just use a small amount and apply it to the hair, avoiding the roots.

I cannot fully remember the price but I know it was very affordable! I will definitely continue to use it as I do believe it has strengthened my hair, so if you also have dry hair I would highly recommend it. My hair is now much more silky and looks much nicer when I leave it fall naturally. It didn’t wash out the teal colour either so is safe to use on coloured hair, thank god! It also smells delicious!

Have you tried any HASK products before? I cannot wait to try more πŸ™‚

Rant Of The Week: The Unspoken Rules Of Dating

2016 is such a complicated year to be a 20-year-old girl. Too young for settling down, but too old for mind games, so what’s in the middle? For me, the middle is a complicated time where I’m torn between my teenage heartache and curiosity about the future, and trying to make a life for myself out of the €20 in my purse while also battling a shopping addiction and love of nights out.

If things weren’t bad enough in the financial areas for us 20 something gals, the silly “unspoken rules of dating” are making us overthink everything and ask all our friends for advice so that we don’t follow our own heart and choose our own path. We then think of all the things we never said later on down the line because we didn’t make our own choices. Trust me, I’ve been there.

Has love become less fun as the years have gone on because of what society considers normal? During our Grandparents and parents youth, love sounded so simple. When you liked someone you did something about it and when you were dating it didn’t mean with six other potential partners on the side. Do we really enjoy living in such a complicated world, or would we just prefer if everything was straight forward? Have flings replaced relationships and reputation replaced romance? Well, I decided to ask my followers the things they find silly about dating these days and I think you will all agree with them because I most definitely do…

Things that also came up was how men are expected to pay for everything, how long before things get to a sexual level with the person you’re dating, the idea of flirting with others and the belief that girls should wear make-up around boys.

We are all aware of everything mentioned above, so why does this generation allow all of these things to be an issue? If we all agree that they are silly, then why do we follow them? We can break the rules, but for some reason the belief is within us that we shouldn’t break them.

I’m even guilty of all of these things, if I like a guy there is a huge process involved if I even want to send him one text. The idea has to be approved by my girlfriends, we have to see who was the first person to text last time, the text content is then decided by all of us, numerous screenshots of the text are sent back and forth to make sure we get it just right, we spend another hour wondering whether he will reply and how long it will take him… and sometimes it doesn’t even make it this far if one of the girls goes ‘Nah, I don’t think you should text him, you don’t want to seem too clingy. The guy should text you first.’ Where do we draw the line between crushing and clinging? My mums advice one time was ‘Just text him, and if he doesn’t reply and thinks you are clingy well then you’re obviously not supposed to be together anyway and then you’ll know to move on.’ I just remember staring at her in disbelief because I couldn’t believe she had even suggested such a thing.

Despite my first reaction, I later realised how right she was and how much more simple that could make things. If we like a guy and want to talk to him, then why don’t we just talk to him?

We are in a generation of overthinkers, and I think social media is partly to blame. Moving on in 2016 isn’t easy, you try to let him go but then you’re left with his Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Snapchat. You’re watching his life go by on a computer screen but you’re too afraid to put yourself out there to try and be a part of it. Instead you waste your time waiting for a text that may or may not arrive and value your self worth on whether or not he liked your selfie. You could both be waiting months for a text that hasn’t even been sent and things will crumble because you will be thinking the other person lacks interest, when really they can’t stop thinking about you.

These unspoken rules of dating have not always been there, our grandparents didn’t over analyse emojis or deny feelings that were clearly there.

Is it time for a romance revival? If we all just admitted our true feelings would things be much easier and not so full of drama? This really shows that love is all about being yourself. If you want to wear make-up, wear it, and if you don’t, don’t. If you are a bit crazy, he will eventually find out anyway, and all girls are these days because these dating limitations drive us to insanity. Tell someone how you feel and if it does scare them off, be thankful that you found out sooner rather than later.

It’s clear from the messages I got from my followers that we are all as equally confused about romance, but love shouldn’t be stressful, love should be fun. Dating shouldn’t have rules, that’s what made the classic romantic movies so exciting. There wasn’t an iPhone in sight in Titanic, the Notebook or Notting Hill, and the highlights of the movie depended on them expressing their feelings for each other and showing their loyalty to each other. However, in 2016, I think we are doing love all wrong and my hopeless romantic heart doesn’t know whether it’s coming or going. Just because the world is full of unspoken rules, doesn’t mean you should be carrying around the burden of an unspoken heart.

Penneys, the 90s and LEDs!

Hey girls! So I went into Penneys Clonmel today (shocker, right?:P) and couldn’t help but spend! They have some lovely bits in there at the moment so it’s definitely worth a look. I’ve also spotted some lovely stuff in Heatons and DV8 lately so I have been making the most of the sales. I decided to share a few of the bits and pieces I’ve picked up in Penneys over the past while just in case you see anything you like and want to head in there and have a browse πŸ™‚

Okay, so out of all the things below, I think this has to be my favourite! Who doesn’t love Friends?! and for just €8 there is no excuse not to buy it. It is a charcoal colour and a really flattering fit. I went for a size below rather than my usual size because it is quite baggy. No doubt these will be flying out of Penneys doors just in time for that Friends reunion! Hopefully this will fill the Chandler void…

The jumper below isn’t something that would usually catch my eye but I just thought it was so pretty! I love the neck and the writing. It’s casual and cosy but also looks lovely on. It isn’t like a normal hoody so the material is lighter and it doesn’t swamp you which is perfect if you love casual but fashionable clothes! It was €12 and I bought it in my usual size 10.

I looooove these earrings! Aren’t they so delicate and pretty? My sisters boyfriend Shane treated me to them and I think they are stunning. I think they will look gorgeous with most things, but in particular a little black dress. Such an elegant jewellery choice for a night out and for €2 you aren’t breaking the bank. Thanks Shane hun!

I got the earrings below for my birthday because I had my eye on them for ages. They totally remind me of the Heart Of The Ocean in Titanic which is perfect for me because that is my favourite movie! I think these are the type of earrings you will either love or hate, but I personally love them. I think they were about €4 πŸ™‚

As you may be aware I have recently been picking up bits and pieces for when my room is done up so I got the things below for this reason. I instantly fell in love with the cushion because Paris is at the top of my bucket list and I love anything Paris related. This cushion really puts emphasis on the fact that it is the city of love with the pink colour and heart designs. I basically bought it to put on my bed as a reminder of my future goals. It was only €4 and I think it is just a sweet, quirky statement piece. By the way, the stripes are on the back of the cushion. Too cute!
The flower LED lights below are also for my bedroom. I think they are so gorgeous and I bought the white because I’m not sure of my colour scheme yet. They also had a baby pink colour though which were also lovely. I knew these would add a cosy atmosphere to my room so I had to buy them. They were only €4.

I hope you enjoyed this post and saw something in it that caught your eye. I would recommend taking a trip to Penneys soon because you will not be disappointed! Don’t forget to follow me on Snapchat to keep up with my shopping adventures. Username: fenellafoxy πŸ™‚ xx

8 Things All Girls Are Guilty Of Doing

It’s not craziness, it’s a woman’s way of life…

1. Trying to get social media revenge when he probably didn’t even notice or care
Yesss he just opened my cute Snapchat story of me laughing with my cat, that DEFINITELY ruined his day and made him rethink everything that happened between us.

2. Throwing all the nice guys into the friendzone
Hmmm, is he rubbish or recyclable?

3. Asking a boy what celebrity he finds hot and questioning everything about yourself
Why would you say that? If you think she’s amazing then are you saying I’m not amazing because I look nothing like her? What’s so amazing about her and not me? Seriously though, why would you say that? I know I asked, but like why? Oh god, I hate you sometimes…

4. Taking every question as an insult
Yes I am going to eat that last slice of pizza, why? Whats wrong with my pepperoni pudge? I thought you find it cute?

5. Saying ‘you just don’t get it’ when you know someone is right
‘Maybe he just doesn’t like you as much as you like him and you should move on!’ ‘Ugh, never mind, you just don’t get it…’

6. Occasionally disliking someone you’ve never even met because of a boy
Look I’m sure she’s a lovely girl, but when she steals my man, my girls will creep to find all the weakness she’s had in life since 2011… it’s tradition…

7. Intentionally looking for things you know will only upset you

8. Panicking about your new guy’s texting style
Does he think all my emoji’s are uncool? Should I do dramatic full stops like he does? Does he leave all his friends x’s? Is he actually laughing whenever he says ‘Haha’? Can anybody even understand what this message says? Am I too caught up in all of this?

Rant Of The Week: Love Always Calls Within Airport Walls

Recently, within the space of a week, I went to the airport twice. Once to drop off my dad, and once to collect him again. I knew what our story was, he was going to England to see family we have over there, but on that second trip while sipping on a latte eagerly awaiting his arrival home I got to thinking about everybody else that was there. The place was buzzing with the sound of coffee machines, suitcases being dragged, phones ringing, babies crying – a whole world of hustle and bustle. Everybody in one place for now, but about to disperse across the world within a matter of hours or even minutes.

I couldn’t help but wonder where they were all going. I noticed one woman looking quite frantic walking up and down, back and forth, and 40 minutes later she was still there. Constantly checking the arrivals board. Who was she waiting for? Her daughter? Husband? Boyfriend? Girlfriend? Mother? And why did she look so nervous? It then hit me how many different problems and lives there are in the world and mine seemed insignificant in comparison. Of course, she may have just been excited for the arrival home of a family member after a holiday, but then again she also may not have seen this person in months, years, or ever.
Just think about the wait for your suitcase when you get off the plane… it always seems like your belongings take forever to arrive, doesn’t it? This is because there seems to be so many suitcases going around in a loop that you get bored of waiting, but in reality, inside of that plain, or in my (suit) case polka dot exterior, there are even more worlds to explore. Gifts from other countries, other cultures, photos of people near, far and missed. In those suitcases there are pieces of people we’ve never even met, but some of these people we may cross paths with at some point in the future. However, this is completely unknown to us now at home in our security bubble. Will we meet them on the road we already live on? Walking beside the Great Wall of China? On top of the Empire State Building? In a little cafe in Paris?
Ordering my latte with my mum and brother, the man serving us seemed down – was he just bored? Upset? Feeling sick? I then walked into a shop and was served by a man who had a huge smile on his face the both times I went in there on my first and second airport visit. I just presumed he was in a great mood, but was he just masking his feelings with a smile while the man in the cafe was masking his happiness with a lack of facial expression? The woman with her little girl in the bathroom, were they also waiting for the dad of the house to come home? Or was it just the two of them?
I realised we don’t really know anyone or half of what is going on in the world because we’re all so absorbed with our own lives. I then binned my latte cup and as I began to leave the airport after a hug from my dad, more masses of people coming and going passed me by, but within all of that I took one last glance at the frantic woman, she was still waiting and I just hope she found happiness in whatever she was waiting for.

Snapchat TMI Tag!

Hello everybody! So as many of you probably already know, I did the TMI tag on my Snapchat yesterday. It was a list of 50 questions which I answered about myself. I have decided to post the answers here as well because some of you might have missed it. Thank you so much to Rebecca of Lipstick, Lace & Life for tagging me πŸ™‚ Check out her blog and follow her on Snapchat: liplacelife πŸ™‚

Getting My Mojo Back!

Hi guys!
So I don’t know if you all saw my most recent selfie on all my social media accounts, but I have had a VERY dramatic change πŸ™‚
Snapchat: fenellafoxy

Anyone who knows me knows I always change my hair as my life changes so I decided I needed something new, especially for the year ahead! I love experimenting with my hair and it always makes me feel great and confident when I get it done. I spent so long growing it out, but as usual, when it got long I realised I found it too boring. I love adding loads of volume to my hair and really giving it an edge which is why I used to love having it short. Despite what some people think, you can do LOADS with short hair! When I had it long it always went too frizzy so I just ended up throwing it up in a bun a lot.

After a few days of pondering, I decided to take the plunge and chop it all off! I didn’t realise how long it was until I was just about to cut it, but once my mind is made up that’s it. My mum is a hairdresser so she chopped it all off for me into a bob and I immediately fell in love with it! No more horrible split ends and wisps, I really have given my hair some life again especially since I have quite coarse hair anyway.

I have cut my hair loads of times so I never get upset and full of regret afterwards! Haha I then decided to put some teal on the ends again (hmmm I wonder which Kardashian-Jenner sister is my fave?) so had to bleach it up to get rid of the dark colour. It wasn’t too difficult to bring up light enough to dye teal because it was no longer the dead, stained hair that my mum was working with. She used the Rusk colour below because it comes up vibrant and stays in really well. We also put some brown on the roots just to give the colour a boost.

In my opinion, bobs are always in fashion and suit so many people. I love how mine frames my face but also distracts from my chin. I have a very heart-shaped face so sometimes I felt having my hair long dragged it out and made my chin look longer. Bobs can be sleek and classy but look edgy too which I love. You can have it with choppy short layers, longer layers, no fringe or different fringes, and they all look fab. My parting can be moved around and I kept the layers long but a bit shorter at the front.

We all know celebs have been loving short hair (lob/bob) the past year or so and I don’t think this is going to go out of fashion anytime soon because it’s a timeless look. If you’re thinking of cutting your hair you should definitely go for it, I can’t wait to funk mine up with gel, plumping powder and quirky accessories! I’m also excited to get that styled volume back and flick out the ends. At the end of the day, you can always grow it again πŸ™‚ So happy to have the old me back! Oh hair mojo, I’ve missed you!

My Top 12 Empowering Songs

There is no better feeling than being completely empowered. However, we all know that sometimes life can get us down and we feel like this current problem we are facing is the end of the world. When I feel like this, the only thing that can truly lift me out of the mood is writing and music. I love turning the volume up really high and for some reason, I just start to feel better again. In particular, when you feel heartbroken, it can be tempting to just dwell on the good times alone while listening to depressing love songs, but that gets us nowhere apart from forgetting all the reasons things didn’t work out to begin with! If you’re feeling like this today and are all down in the dumps doing nothing, I have put together some of the songs I blast when I’m upset, angry or confused about a situation.

1. Let It Go by Idina Menzel
If you only listen to the Demi Lovato version you’re doing it all wrong… you need to listen to the real Frozen version as loud as you can!

2. Not Me, Not I by Delta Goodrem
A really nice song, but also reminds you that you are worth more than crying your eyes out in bed over him. “Did you think that every time I see you I would cry? No not me, not I.”

3. Fight Song by Rachel Platten
This one is great for taking back control of your life and emotions!

4. Ugly Heart by G.R.L
The boy may be a model but lets face it, we all know you can do better…

5. A Little Time by The Beautiful South
This song got me through a break-up because my mum made me listen to it over and over again and it helped, A LOT.

6. Shake It Off by Taylor Swift
Haters gonna hate, hate, hate…

7. I Knew You Were Trouble by Taylor Swift
Perfect for releasing a build up of anger when you might be getting hurt by someone!

8. Best Thing I Never Had by Beyonce
Because ladies, we are all Beyonce!

9. All About Tonight by Pixie Lott
“I bought a new pair of shoes, I got a new attitude when I walk”

10. Domino by Jessie J
I just love this song and hearing it makes me happy, soz…

11. Turning Tables by Adele
The only Adele song that doesn’t move me to tears…

12. Clean by Taylor Swift
My 2015 girl power song because as time moves on, things get better. Taylor spoke about getting over a break-up and said “You replace these old habits with new habits, like texting your friends in a group chat all day and planning fun dinner parties and going out on adventures with your girlfriends, and then all of a sudden one day you’re in London and you realize you’ve been in the same place as your ex for two weeks and you’re fine. And you hope he’s fine.” and she’s right, I had one of these moments recently, you realise time has healed you.

No matter how horrible things may seem at first, life goes on! Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together πŸ™‚ Don’t dwell on sadness, absorb these lyrics and take back control of your life πŸ™‚ I’m in a great place lately and I think a lot of it is to do with these songs that kept me going, so I hope this helps!
