My Five Simple Steps To Big Hair

When it comes to my hair, volume is my favourite word! I cannot go on a night out when my hair looks flat, it just kills my mood and my outfit. Somebody once said to me that I looked like I had been dragged through a bush backwards. Mission accomplished!
So, if you’re like me and love hair that is full of volume here are the 5 simple steps that I take…
1) Blowdrying. After I have washed my hair I tend to blowdry it quite straight until the end when I flip my head over and dry it upside down for a while to add some bounce.
2) Backcombing. I have a backcombing brush which works wonders! Its a pink Opia one from Penneys, so very affordable. If you don’t have one of these then a normal comb will work too. Makesure you’re backcombing at the root to get the height in the correct place.
3) Batiste Dry Styling XXL Plumping Powder. If you are the type of person that fears backcombing (don’t worry, I used to be too!) then a different method is Plumping Powder. My mum is a hairdresser and uses it all the time. Its a powder that you lightly sprinkle onto your roots and use your fingers to style as you wish. It works so well that I’m actually convinced it’s fairy dust. Pop into Penneys to pick one up for only 4 euro and carry it around in your handbag for any flat hair emergencies!
4) Shockwaves Ultra Strong Rock And Hold Gel Styler by Wella. This is my favourite part of my hair styling routine and I bring it everywhere! A spray on gel that you can then style with your fingers. Non sticky and holds really well. I love it because it works so well, especially on my short layers! Can be bought in any of your usual shops for hair care and beauty and should last you ages unless you are like me and spray the entire bottle in one go…
5) Hairspray. An obvious one but of course a necessity for big, bouncy hair. I use Schwarzkopf Silhouette because A) Its really good. B) The bottle is pink!. And C) It lasts for ages! However, any hairspray will do to put that final finish and hold on the volume. If you don’t have any hairspray, get shopping! I use it on a daily basis and even use it to hold my eyebrows in place. Yes, you may laugh, my boyfriend finds it hilarious too but at least I have eyebrows that are kept under control! Yay for hairspray!
