Home Is Where The Heart Is

This blog post is a bit out of the blue, but I felt it was appropriate for this chapter of my life.

I have always been a home bird, even when I was younger I used to hate the thought of even going on sleepovers (with the gossip and junk food obsessed lady I am, that's weird I know). I don't know what it is, I just always felt a sense of insecurity and upset when I was away from home.

When I used to hear the phrase "home is where the heart is" I always used to think that meant home was home. My house, my bed, my family, everything physical belonging to me in the security blanket that I grew up in.

However, as I am getting older, I have a whole new perspective on the phrase. Yes, I still think home is where the heart is, yes I am still a home bird at heart, and yes I still get homesick. But, as cheesy as it sounds, what if your heart isn't just in one place, but spread around many places?

What if your heart is longing to spend a whole day in Starbucks writing while the world goes by? What if your heart is dreaming of starting a new adventure in Australia? What if your heart is simply lying in bed on a Sunday with your boyfriend watching your favourite tv show together? Then you are lucky enough to know home is where the heart is but your heart is desperate for adventure.

Of course my house will always be my home, but we need to be brave enough and build many homes with new people and new experiences. Your home will always be there, but you won't be. So make the most of your life and don't let fear hold you back.
